MDK/WWR’S TIGER HAS THE HEART OF A LION IN SAN DIEGO
February 13, 2008

Newbury Park, CA. Tiger Lacey rode well the whole evening in San Diego, helping the team overcome injuries to keep the main event streak alive for MDK/WWR.

The week started off with less than a bang as the team found out that two more of the MDK/WWR stars were injured. Both Daniel Blair and Manu Rivas joined Heath Voss on the DL. As of press time, the exact return of all three riders was up in the air, although Voss and Rivas are slight possibilities for returning for Houston.

Given the injuries, the remaining team members were asked to take their riding to the next level. And boy did they try. Matty Dowell finished a strong 10th in his heat, being passed by the very fast Austin Stroupe on the last lap. Mike Horban, loosening his style up thanks to a unique team training regime, rode the heat race of his life, finishing 10th place too. And finally Jiri Dostal finished 10th in his heat, being passed only by none other than Josh Hill in the last corner. As they say in all sports though -- a miss is as good as a mile . . .

Now on to Tiger Lacey. He ripped in his heat race, placing an outstanding and astounding 4th. He rode like a man possessed, thanks to the extra safety protection provided by his state-of-the-art RXR inflatable chest protector. After an uncharacteristically bad start in the main, Tiger picked off the field one by one, running as high as 13th, until he tipped over in a turn. Charging again, Tiger put the RXR to the test off of the triple. He cased it hard and then wadded up in an unbelievable crash. Doc Bodnar said the high tech chest protector saved him from serious internal injuries. Good job RXR!! Tiger will be back in Houston, going all out for a 14th place or better finish so that he can ride the Supercross class the rest of the year for MDK/WWR.

Also putting in a spectacular ride was Kevin Johnson, who rode as a special guest out of the RV Ready/WWR rig. Kevin finished 12th in the big bike class, beating much of the deep and talented field. Muchos thanks to DeCal Works for extending a sponsorship exemption to Kevin, allowing the Team Faith rider to shine as an honorary Warthog.

Of the 10 MDK/WWR riders pitted out of the DeCal Works Hog Haven and the RV Ready tent, 8 made the evening program. Joining Dostal and Johnson in the Supercross class was Ryan Abrigo. Ramon Guzman and Tye Hames also made the night show in the Lites class, joining Tiger, Matty and Horban in a stacked field. Charles Castloo and Bryce Huffman didn’t make the night show.

MotocrossGiant.com Founder, Rob Roon, said, “This team was great tonight!! Everyone gave it a 100% out there and it was satisfying to see Tiger aggressive and on the gas. I can’t wait for Houston, as many of the top team riders will be back. I won’t be surprised to see our team get 5 - 6 riders in the main.”
